英語部活動報告

パーラメンタリーディベートの県大会に備えて、12月18日（木）に愛知県立昭和高校とオンラインで練習試合を行いました。今回は練習試合の計画から実施・ジャッジまですべて生徒たちで企画し、実施しました。お互いに切磋琢磨でき、新たに反省点を見つけました。今後の練習に向けてとてもよい刺激になりました。

For the upcoming prefectural parliamentary debate competition, we held an online debate with students from Aichi Showa High School. Everything was organized by the students themselves, which was very inspiring. We will continue to work hard to achieve our goal.

３年生が引退し、新体制になりました。英語部初の試みである、ディベートの校内戦を行いました！

夏休みに一日かけ、３試合を行いました。初めて連戦行う１年生がほとんどで、一生懸命取り組みました。ALTに参加してもらい、ジャッジをしてもらいました。

冬の連盟杯に向けて、よい刺激になったと思います。

The third year students retired and a new structure icluding the first year students started! They had an intra-school debate competition as the Eglish club's hirst attempt!
They played three matches over one day during the summer holidays. Most of the first-year students were playing in a series of matches for the first time, and they worked very hard.
It must have been a good stimulus for the tournament held in winter.

先日行った部活では、今年度卒業した英語部の先輩と交流を行いました！卒業した先輩は、英語部のディベートでも活躍をし、昨年6月に行われた新芽杯でチーム全体を引っ張ってくれて見事総合3位という結果を残してくれました。

we had the opportunity to reconnect with a senior who graduated this year and was an active member of the English Club.　This senior played a key role in our debate team, leading the group to an impressive 3rd place finish in the Shinmeihai Debate Tournament last June.

学業面でも、第一志望校の国公立に合格し、難関私立大学も全て合格を果たしました。

交流会では、部活動以外にも学校行事の大切さや、日々の勉強方法などのたくさんのことを教えてくれましたね。

Not only did she excel in club activities, but she also achieved outstanding academic results—securing admission to their first-choice national university and passing entrance exams for several prestigious private universities.

During the exchange session, the senior shared valuable insights on the importance of school events, effective study habits, and personal experiences beyond club activities.

卒業生も「1年生がこんなに英語部に入部してくれて、続けてくれて本当に嬉しい！」と言っていただきました！

高校を卒業しても、蕨高校英語部のことを少し思い出してくれて、そして大学、社会人になったときに活躍してくれることを願っています！

在校生のみんなは、憧れる先輩になれるようにこれからも頑張ってください！

Even after graduation, we hope our alumni continue to remember their time in the English Club and go on to achieve great things in university and beyond.

今回は、学年末テストも終わり、来年度の部活動紹介ムービーの作成を行いました！

 With the final exams now over, we have started creating the club introduction video for the next school year!

時間がかなり限られてる中、新入生に少しでも英語部に興味を持ってもらおうと奮闘しています！

 Despite the limited time, students are working hard to make the English Club appealing to new students.

どんな紹介ムービーが出来上がるのか楽しみですね！

本日は、エンジョイチームがバレンタインパーティーを行いました！

Today, the Enjoy Team held a Valentine’s Party!

ALTのAna先生がお手製ナチョスを持参して、みんなで愉快にトッピングをし完成させました！

 本当に美味しくて、大量にあったナチョスもペロリでした^ ^

Our ALT, Ms. Ana, brought homemade nachos, and everyone had a great time adding toppings to create the perfect dish. The nachos were so delicious that they disappeared in no time!

その後、各自持参したチョコレートの交換タイムが始まりました！皆んな手作りでどれも美味しそうなお菓子でしたね！

 After that, we had a chocolate exchange! Everyone brought handmade sweets, and they all looked amazing!

ALTの先生とお喋りをしながら、楽しい時間を過ごせましたね！

エンジョイチームの方は、英語活動を全面に押し出すというより、楽しく活動出来ました！

思い出に残るといいですね^ ^

Chatting with the ALTs, we spent a fun and relaxing time together. Unlike other English activities, the Enjoy Team focuses on a lighthearted and cheerful experience rather than intense English practice.

We hope this party becomes a wonderful memory for everyone!

本日は、連盟杯に蕨高校から3チーム参加してきてきました！これまで連盟杯での全チーム一勝以上を目的に週に3回部活動を行ってきました。

Today, three teams from Warabi High School participated in the Renmei Cup! For the past several weeks, our debate club has been practicing three times a week with the goal of securing at least one win per team in this highly competitive tournament. And we did it!

結果は、2年生チーム2勝(敗戦した相手は総合1位と2位のチーム)、一年生両チームとも1勝と見事目標を達成することができました！

・The result of 2nd-year team: 2 wins (only losing to the top two overall teams)

・Both 1st-year teams: 1 win each

そして、大会のベストスピーカー賞で一年生が全体11位という輝かしい結果で終わることができ、生徒一同充実した大会を終えることが出来ました！
Additionally, one of our 1st-year students ranked 11th overall as a Best Speaker, an incredible achievement in such a strong competition!

埼玉県は英語ディベート大会が全国的に見てもレベルが非常に高く、そんな中で全員が目標を達成できたことは生徒達にとっても大きな一歩だと思います。
Saitama is known for its exceptionally high-level English debate tournaments, making these victories a huge milestone for our students. Achieving our goal in this challenging environment has given them a valuable boost of confidence and motivation.

 すでに次の大会に向けて意気込む生徒います。その調子で、これからの成長の糧にできるといいですね！
ひとまず、お疲れ様でした！

新年明けましておめでとうございます！本日は英語部の今年初となるパーラメンタリーディベート練習を行いました。活気あふれるスタートとなり、部員たちの熱意が感じられる一日でした。

 Happy New Year! Today, we held the first parliamentary debate practice of the year in our English Club. It was an energetic start, and the enthusiasm of our members was truly inspiring.

今回の練習では、1年生がスピーカーを務め、2年生がジャッジとして試合を見守る形で進行しました。1年生たちは昨年からの練習の成果を発揮し、ますます力をつけてきている様子がうかがえました。一方、2年生もジャッジとして公平に試合を評価し、具体的なフィードバックを提供することで後輩たちをサポートしました。このような形で学年を超えた協力ができるのも、英語部の強みの一つです。

 In today’s practice, first-year students took on the roles of speakers, while second-year students acted as judges. The first-year students demonstrated the progress they’ve made since last year, showing steady improvement in their debating skills. Meanwhile, the second-year students provided fair evaluations as judges and gave detailed feedback to support their juniors. This kind of collaboration across grades is one of the strengths of our English Club.

2月2日（日）に開催される大会に向けて、部員一同さらに練習に励んでいきます。今年も英語部の成長にぜひご注目ください！

With the tournament on Sunday, February 2, fast approaching, all of our members are determined to work even harder in preparation. Please continue to watch for the growth of our English Club this year!

本日はディベートチームでクリスマスパーティーをしました！

最初はプレゼント交換をし、それぞれどんなものを買って誰に渡ったのかで盛り上がってましたね！

Today, our debate team held a Christmas party!

We started with a gift exchange, which was so much fun as everyone shared what they bought and who received their gifts.

その後、英語版人生ゲームがスタートです！全員初めてやるので解読するところから初めてましたが、飲み込みが早くすぐに楽しめていました！

Next, we played the English version of The Game of Life! Since it was everyone’s first time, we started by figuring out the rules, but they caught on quickly and enjoyed it in no time!

新チームになってから、これまで頑張ってきましたね！明日は学校最終日で、ディベートを行います。成長した姿も見せれるといいですね^ ^

Since forming the new team, you’ve all worked so hard together. Tomorrow is the last day of school, and we’ll have a debate. Let’s show how much you’ve grown!

お久ぶりです！長らく顧問の都合がつかず不在のなか、英語部はしっかりと活動してくれています！！

本日は、２年生が蕨高校行事の日中交流会に参加している中、一年生主体のディベート練習を行いました！

Hello again! Despite the advisor’s absence due to scheduling conflicts, the English Debate Club has been continuing its activities diligently.

Today, while the second-year students participated in the Daytime Exchange Program at Warabi High School, the first-year students led a debate practice session.

一人３分の発表時間を設け、その代わり時間をフルに使ってディベートを行う練習でした。

彼らの感想としては、以前の６月の大会よりは着実に成長しているのを実感できているようです。

Each student was given three minutes to present their arguments. This approach allowed them to make full use of their time and focus on sharpening their debate skills.

From their reflections, it’s clear they’ve noticed steady improvement compared to the competition in June. This progress has given them more confidence.

２月に開かれる大会は５分間の発表になり、さらに長くしなければなりません。内容を膨らませるアイデア等を話しあって本日の活動を終えました。

With the February competition approaching, where they’ll need to deliver five-minute speeches, they’ll need to expand their content even further. Today’s session concluded with discussions on how to develop their ideas and strengthen their presentations.

大会が近づいてきたので、さらにギアを上げて取り組んでほしいですね！
As the competition draws closer, it’s time to shift into high gear and give it their all. Let’s keep up the great work, Debate Club!

本日は、火曜日なので実際のテーマをもとに、議論を行いました！

議題は[THBT criminal traits should be broadcast on TV]でした。

内容面と反論面にもフィードバックできるようになってきたのが、成長を感じますね＾＾

Today, being Tuesday, we held a debate on a real topic!

The topic was “This House Believes That Criminal Traits Should Be Broadcast on TV.”

We could see real growth, as students are now giving feedback not only on content but also on rebuttals. It’s great to see this progress! 

また、本日は英語部に興味がある生徒が2名ほど参加してくれました。

英語部の生徒の英語力と思考力惹かれて、魅力を感じているようです。

もし彼らが入部すると、人数も増えより活気が出るかもしれません。

Today, two students who are interested in the English Club also joined. They seemed drawn to the English skills and critical thinking of the English Club members and felt inspired by them.

If they join, the club will have more members, adding to its energy and excitement.

ただ一方で元々いた英語部のメンバーの中で、大会・主力メンバーから外れる可能性も出てきます。

お互いがお互いを尊重し、切磋琢磨できる環境を作っていきたいですね！

However, this could also mean that some of the current members might no longer be part of the main team for competitions.

We hope to build an environment where everyone can respect each other and motivate each other to improve!
