本日も、2大プロジェクトを同時並行で行い、スピーキングのクイックレスポンスとアカデミックディベートでの調べ学習をしました。

調べ学習では、情報の検索方法や各種ツールの活用方法などを中心に情報を集め、チームで役割を分担しながら取り組んでいました！

 Today, we continued our two major projects: Quick Response Speaking Practice and Research-Based Academic Debate.

Academic Debate
In the research sessions, students focused on learning effective search techniques and utilizing various tools to gather relevant information. They worked collaboratively, dividing roles within their teams to ensure efficient progress. This teamwork not only helped them organize their findings but also strengthened their ability to approach debates strategically.

スピーキング練習では、前回同様に英検の練習を基盤にしながら日常会話の練習を取り入れて、緊張と緩和をまぜながらのレッスンを行えています！

少人数でも生徒同士で話会うときは英語で話し合う姿もあり、ALTも満足そうに授業を楽しんでいます！

Speaking Practice
As in the previous lessons, speaking practice incorporated elements of Eiken preparation alongside daily conversation exercises. By blending moments of tension and relaxation, students were able to engage actively and improve their speaking fluency.

Even during discussions in small groups, many students communicated with each other entirely in English, showcasing their growth. The ALTs were visibly pleased and thoroughly enjoyed the lessons!

ついに本日が今年最後の授業となりました。蕨高校外国語科に入学し、環境も変わり、英語に特化する授業に不安もあったかと思います。それでも、毎回新しいことに挑戦していく姿は素晴らしかったですし、楽しそうに授業を受けてくれてこちらも楽しくなります。来年もこの熱をキープしたまま、英語を楽しみつつ、レベルアップしていきましょう！

A Note on 2023
Today marked the final class of the year.

Entering the Foreign Language Department at Warabi High School must have been a big change for many students, and some might have felt anxious about the English-focused curriculum. Despite this, their willingness to tackle new challenges every lesson was truly inspiring. Their enthusiasm and ability to have fun during classes made teaching them a joy.

Let’s carry this energy into 2024! Together, we’ll continue enjoying English while leveling up even further.

本日より、４技能レベルアップとアカデミックディベートが同時進行で始まりました！！

アカデミックディベートでは、スプレッドシートを利用し、調べたことを共有しながら調べ学習を行いました。

今回は、2/9に行われるウィンターカップへ向けて「School trips should be abolished.」について様々な観点から調べていきます。

Starting today, we have officially begun working on both 4-skills development and Academic Debate simultaneously!

Academic Debate
In preparation for the Winter Cup on February 9th, students are focusing on the topic: "School trips should be abolished." Using spreadsheets, they collaborated to share and organize their research from various perspectives. This method helps them not only deepen their understanding of the topic but also improves teamwork and logical thinking.

一方、2人のALTと１人JETの3人体制で5人の生徒のスピーキング練習を行いました！

ここでは、少人数制でスピーキングを行うことで、生徒一人一人が話す時間を長くすることができています。

Speaking Practice
Meanwhile, three teachers—two ALTs and one JET—conducted speaking practice sessions with a small group of five students. The smaller group setting allowed each student to have more time to speak, maximizing their practice opportunities.

さらに、事前に使いたい表現や単語、文法を事前にスプレッドシートに溜めておくことで、その表現等を実際に使いに行く場を提供することも目的にしています。

クイックリスポンスを意識して、どんどん表現の幅が広がっていくといいですね！

To make the most of these sessions, students prepared in advance by gathering expressions, vocabulary, and grammar they wanted to use, which were recorded in a spreadsheet. This system ensures they can actively apply these expressions during practice.

By focusing on quick responses and expanding their range of expressions, we hope to see their speaking skills grow significantly.

Looking Ahead
The next session will be our last class of the year. Reflecting on this year, the students have tackled so many challenges without stopping!

お久しぶりです！ 後期中間考査②が終わり、今年もいよいよ終わりに近づいています。

そんな中、外語クラスではさらにステップアップできるように新しいステージ向かって走り出しました！
１年生の終盤、今後は、2大プロジェクトを同時並行で行い、スピーキングとロジカルシンキングに弾みをつけていきます。

Hello again! The second part of the midterm exams is over, and the year is quickly coming to a close. With this, the Foreign Language Class is stepping into a new stage to continue growing.

We are now launching two major projects to simultaneously boost students’ speaking skills and logical thinking abilities.

 まずは、英検プロジェクトです。これまで“Show and Tell”, “OREO”, “Presentation”, “Recitation”, “Speech” and “Parliamentary Debate” の活動を通して、基礎的な英語力と人前で話す経験や、論理的思考を学んできましました。そしてこれからは、Quick Responseを意識した取り組みを行っていきます。ALTとJETの先生で5人の生徒と面接や日常会話の練習を行っていき、素早い英語のやり取りができるように取り組んでいきます！

Project 1: Eiken Preparation
Over the past months, students have developed foundational English skills and logical thinking through activities like Show and Tell, OREO, Presentations, Recitation, Speech, and Parliamentary Debate. Building on this foundation, we will now focus on improving Quick Response skills.

また、4人の先生が協力して、WritingやReadingの強化といったことも同時に行っていき、英検練習を通して4技能の底上げを行っていきます。具体的な目標としては、来年の6月までに2級は全員合格、準1級は20人以上を目指して取り組んでいきます！
生徒たちもより一層気合が入っていますので、そのモチベーションを保ちながら今後のDDも盛り上げていけるといいですね。
To achieve this, ALT and JET teachers will work with groups of five students, practicing interviews and casual conversations to enhance their ability to respond quickly in English. At the same time, four teachers will collaborate to strengthen writing and reading skills, ensuring comprehensive preparation for the Eiken exam.

Our goal is ambitious: 100% of students passing Eiken Grade 2 and over 20 students passing Pre-1 by June next year. The students are motivated, and we hope to maintain this enthusiasm while keeping our classes engaging and dynamic!

もう一つのプロジェクトが、アカデミックディベートです。今までは即興型ディベートを行ってきしたが、次回から大会までに決まった議題を入念に調べ、データを集めて、さまざまな観点から議論をしていきます。

Project 2: Academic Debate
Having completed the impromptu debate format, we are moving to Academic Debate. This time, students will research predetermined topics thoroughly, gather data, and discuss from various perspectives.

チームを組んで、より説得力のあるデータや情報を手に入れて、どんな反論がくるのか、それに対してどう反論するのかも考えながら知見を広げていきましょう！
目標は2月のアカデミックディベート大会で結果を残すことです！有終の美を飾れるようにこちらも全力取り組んでいきましょう！
In teams, they will focus on finding persuasive evidence and anticipating potential counterarguments, honing their critical thinking and debate skills. Our goal is clear: to achieve success at the Academic Debate Competition in February!
