ついにスピーチコンテストが開催されました。これまでスピーチコンテストに向けてのHPも多く投稿してきました。３１期がコンテストに参加するために、７月から原稿の作成、発音、表現にたくさんの時間を割き、クラス内予選も行い、選抜をしました。選抜された生徒は９月に入ってからも毎日のように遅くまで練習を行い、日に日に成長していたのがよくわかりました。レシテーション部門（暗唱部門）では、普通科からも参加があり、お互いが切磋琢磨しあいながら、よい刺激になっていたのは間違いありません！

Finally, the Speech Contest was held! We have posted many updates on the website leading up to this contest. Since July, the 31st class worked hard on writing their speeches, practicing pronunciation, and expression. We also held a class competition to choose the best students. The selected students practiced every day in September, staying late, and improving a lot. In the Recitation section, students from both the Foreign Language class and the General class competed and helped each other grow.

本番では、会場の雰囲気に飲まれることなく、むしろ生徒達がいつも以上のパフォーマンスをしていたので私自身も生徒達のメンタルの強さや成長に当日も驚かされることになりました！！

During the contest, the students were not nervous. In fact, they performed even better than usual! I was amazed by their strength and growth.

スピーチ部門：１~３位　３１期外国語科

と両部門で普通科を含む１年生が独占することができました。

それぞれの発表が終わると、会場全体がその迫力と英語力にどよめきが起きるほど、今年のスピーチコンテストが盛り上がり、先生方からも今までにないレベルの高いコンテストだと言っていただけました。これを見ている皆さんにも是非共有をしたかったほど、素晴らしい発表でした。それも全て３１期外国語科でスピーチコンテストを盛り上げようと努力した結果だと思います！

After each performance, the audience was impressed by the power and level of English. The teachers also said this year’s contest was at the highest level. This is thanks to the efforts of the 31st class to make the contest exciting!

外国語科としては、レシテーション部門を普通科に譲る形になってしまい、悔しい思いをした生徒もいたと思いますが、優勝した普通科の生徒は勿論、そのほかの普通科の生徒のレベルの高さは会場にいた全員が納得するものでありました。また、スピーチ部門に関しては「打倒２年生」を掲げ、ここまで３１期が頑張れたのも事実です。２年生という大きな背中を目指したからこそ成長できたことに感謝したいと思います。

It was a little disappointing for the Foreign Language class to lose the Recitation section to the General class. However, the level of the General class students, especially the winner, was very high, and everyone agreed with the result.

In the Speech section, the 31st class worked hard with the goal of "beating the 2nd-year students." Thanks to aiming for the 2nd-year students, they were able to grow so much. We want to thank the 2nd-year students for being a big goal to chase.

スピーチ部門で優勝した生徒に関しては、１１月に行われる埼玉県のスピーチコンテストへの蕨高校代表として参加することになります。これからまた再度原稿の見直しや練習の日々が続くと思いますが、蕨高校代表に恥じぬように本人も意気込んでおります。

The student who won the Speech section will represent Warabi High School at the Saitama Speech Contest in November. They will continue to practice hard to represent the school well.

惜しくも参加できなかった生徒、当日参加できなくなってしまった生徒、応援してくれた３１期外国語科、勇気を持って参加してくれた普通科の生徒、目標で合ってくれた２年生、ここまで支えてくれた家族や友達感謝申し上げます。

We want to thank the students who couldn’t join, the students who couldn’t come on the day, the 31st foreign language class who supported us, the regular course students who joined with courage, the 2nd-year students who were our goal, and the family and friends who supported us until now.

是非、これまで頑張ってきた３１期の生徒に大きな拍手と、これからの３１期に大きな声援をよろしくお願いいたします！！！！！！

本日もパーラメンタリーディベートの練習を行いました。これまで、アイデア出し→現状問題編→重要編→反論編を練習してきましたが、今回は要約編の練習と実際にチームになり新しいトピックで取り組んで見る体験をしました。

この単元に入った時は、生徒全員が難しそうな表情や、多くの情報とステップに困惑、不安が合ったように見えましたが、次第にやるべきことが明確になってきたのもあり、表情も明るく、元気に活動してくれています。今までは段階を踏んで学んできましたが、本日の実践編では一連の流れの中でチームを組んで行ってみました。

Today, we practiced parliamentary debate again. So far, we’ve practiced brainstorming, explaining the problem, explaining the importance, and rebuttals. This time, we practiced summarizing and worked in teams on a new topic.

At first, the students looked confused and worried because there was so much to learn. But slowly, they understood what to do, and now they are more confident and happy to participate.

 やることがわかってきたので、どのチームも活発に話し合い、原稿作成にも取りかかりました。次回は来週の金曜日と少し遠いですが、本日の原稿を元に実際にディベートを行っていきたいと思います！外国語科として、日々の単語も文法も「使う」ことを意識して取り組んでほしいですね！

Today, the students worked in teams to practice the full process of debate. They had lively discussions and started writing their speeches.Next Friday, we will use today’s speeches to have a real debate! I hope everyone continues to focus on using English every day, not only learning vocabulary and grammar but also practicing it.

本日も、前回の続きであるパーラーメンタリーディベートの練習を行いました。

内容は、prime ministerの原稿を完成すること。そして、お互いの意見を交換して、反論してみる練習を行いました！

Today, we continued practicing parliamentary debate, just like last time. The focus was on finishing the Prime Minister’s speech. We also practiced exchanging ideas and making rebuttals.

最初は苦しみながらも、だんだんとやることが明確になってきて、昨日よりも今日といった成長が感じられました！

At first, it was difficult, but things became clearer, and we could see growth from yesterday to today!

明日は、要約の練習も行います。単なる英語の能力だけではなく、論理的思考や、批判的思考、表現、チームワークが問われます。タフな授業が続きますが、外国語科ならではの授業を存分に楽しんでほしいですね！

Tomorrow, we will practice summarizing. This class is not just about English skills but also about thinking logically, being critical, expressing ideas, and working as a team. It’s a tough class, but I hope everyone enjoys this special experience in the Foreign Language Department!

皆さん、初めまして！！　外国語科30期である2年生です！謎のベールに包まれていた私達を少し公開したいと思います！笑

 Hello everyone!! We are the 30th class of the Foreign Language Department, currently in our second year! We’d like to unveil a bit of the mystery surrounding us! (Haha)

これまではアカデミックディベートと呼ばれる、ディベート形式をとり練習や実践を行っていました！

下調べなどに十分に時間をとり、いかに根拠と説得力のある内容を述べられるかどうか競い合って来ました。

Up until now, we’ve been practicing and competing in Academic Debate, a debate style that allows plenty of time for research and focuses on presenting well-grounded and persuasive arguments.

そして本日より、即興型ディベート形式の練習に入り、今度は定められた時間内にいかに説得力のあるディベートをできるかという、総合的な英語力を問われる学習に入っていきました！

初めてのことで、沢山わからないことや、覚えなければいけないこともありましたが、飲み込みが早く、そして周りと助け合いながら明るい雰囲気で取り組んでいました！

Starting today, we’ve shifted to practicing impromptu-style debates, where the challenge is to deliver a convincing debate within a set time limit. This new format will test our overall English skills.

Although it’s our first time, and there were many things to learn and remember, we picked it up quickly and approached it with a bright and cooperative spirit! 

ディベート発表は個々人ではありますが、どんなアイデアを出すのかなど、チームワークも試される活動でもあります。

While the debate presentations are individual, this activity also challenges our teamwork as we brainstorm ideas together.

まずは基礎知識と基礎体力をつけて、これからのディベートディスカッションに向けて準備をしていきましょう！！

Let’s start by building our basic knowledge and skills as we prepare for more debate and discussion activities ahead!

頑張れ、30期　外国語科^ ^

本日より、新しいトピックに入りました！

即興方ディベートである、パーラメンタリーディベートを授業用にアレンジし、導入と練習を行いました！

パーラメンタリーディベートは、英国議会をベースに行うディベート形式であり、Government（与党）Vs Opposition （野党）の３対３に分かれて議論するスタイルです。

Starting today, we have introduced a new topic!

We arranged and practiced Parliamentary Debate, a form of impromptu debate, for the class. Parliamentary Debate is a style based on the British Parliament, where two teams—Government (Proposition) vs. Opposition—of three members each, debate against one another.

本日は、最初のスピーカーであるPrime Minister編の練習を行い、アイデア出しとアカデミックに述べる練習、そして現状の問題と政策導入をするメリットを述べる練習を行いました。

Today, we practiced the role of the first speaker, the Prime Minister. The focus was on generating ideas, presenting them academically, and explaining the benefits of implementing policies to address current issues.

手順や述べることが多く、生徒達も必死に学んでいましたが、お互いに助け合いながら授業を進めることができました。

Though the process and content were quite challenging, the students worked hard and supported one another throughout the lesson.

次回は、反論の練習と議論の要約練習を行い、実際にディベートするための下準備を整えて行く予定です。

英語部の生徒達や、イギリス出身のRick先生に実際に授業を行ってくれる環境に感謝しつつ、外国語科としてさらに成長してきましょう！

Next time, we will practice refutations and summarizing arguments to prepare for an actual debate.

We are grateful to have the students from the English Club and Mr. Rick, a teacher from the UK, to guide us. Let’s continue growing as a Foreign Language class!

水曜日と木曜日は球技大会が行われている一方、スピーチコンテストに出場する外国語のクラスの生徒や、普通科の生徒も一緒に練習を行いました！！

While the ball game tournament was held on Wednesday and Thursday, students from the Foreign Language class and General Education students practiced together for the speech contest!

普通科の生徒が大変上手で、外国語科のクラスの生徒にとっても非常にプレッシャーになりますが、お互いが切磋琢磨しているのが伝わってきました！

The General Education students performed exceptionally well, which put a lot of pressure on the Foreign Language students, but it was clear that they were all pushing each other to improve!

外国語科だけでなく、普通科の生徒とも一緒になってスピーチコンテストがより盛り上がるようにできる良いですね！

It would be great if the speech contest could be even more exciting with the combined efforts of both the Foreign Language and General Education student

今回で最後のレシテーション＋スピーチ発表になりました。この企画７月上旬～９月中旬までの長い期間となりましたが、その過程で原稿作り、発音、表現力の練習とたくさんのことを学んだかと思います。

Today marked the final recitation and speech presentations. This project has spanned from early July to mid-September, during which students have learned a great deal about scriptwriting, pronunciation, and expressive skills.

例年１年生では、スピーチの挑戦は行われていませんでしたが、今年はクラスの雰囲気と生徒達のやる気があり、１年生から全員スピーチ発表をクラスでもうけ、その後希望制により、レシテーション組とスピーチ組に分かれてこの夏休み期間も練習に励んできました！

Typically, first-year students don’t take on speech challenges, but this year, thanks to the class atmosphere and the students' motivation, all first-year students delivered speeches in class. Afterward, they were divided into recitation and speech groups based on their preferences, continuing their practice throughout the summer break.

本日の発表をもって、スピーチコンテストへの参加者が決まりました。本来なら全員出場させてあげたいところではありましたが、コンテスト時間の関係上、選抜を行い、惜しくも漏れてしまった生徒もいます。それでも、その過程で得られた経験と知識・技術はあったかと思います。競争で得られた「学び」をこれからの学校生活で大切にしてほしいですね！

With today’s presentations, the participants for the speech contest have been decided. Ideally, we would love for everyone to participate, but due to time constraints, we had to make selections. Unfortunately, some students were not chosen, but they still gained valuable experience, knowledge, and skills throughout the process. We hope they cherish the lessons learned from this competition in their future school life!

また、選抜された生徒に関しては、３１期外国語科の代表として思い切って発表をしてほしいですね。（すでに練習スケジュールもいっぱいです・‥）

As for the selected students, we hope they boldly represent the 31st Foreign Language Department during their presentations. (Their practice schedule is already packed!)

クラス全体のレベルが本当に上がってきたのを実感します。このまま前期を走り抜き、後期へ繋げていきましょう！

The improvement in the overall level of the class is truly noticeable. Let’s keep this momentum going as we finish the first term and move into the second!

本日も暗唱テストとスピーチの発表を行いました！暗唱テストでは、部活等でなかなか夏休み期間に練習にこれなかった生徒の発表も、非常に感情表現がしっかりしおり、その雰囲気がクラス全体のムードも高めてくれました！

Today, we continued with recitation tests and speech presentations!　Even the students who couldn’t attend practice much during the summer due to club activities gave performances with strong emotional expression during the recitation tests, which elevated the overall mood of the class!

一方、スピーチ部門では、夏休み期間中に原稿作成に励んだ成果もあり、ALTやJETの先生からも評価が高く、生徒達自身も自身を持って発表することができました！

スピーチ組は表現に関してはなかなか練習時間が取れずにいましたが、暗唱組の表現力に触発されて、練習以上の表現力を発揮してくれたので、どれも個性的で印象的なスピーチになりました。

On the other hand, in the speech category, the efforts made in scriptwriting over the summer paid off, with high praise from ALT and JET teachers. The students themselves presented with great confidence!

Although the speech group had limited practice time for expression, they were inspired by the recitation group's emotional delivery, and they showcased even more expressive performances than expected. Each speech was unique and memorable.

時間内には終わらなかったため、次回も発表を行いますが、それを持ってスピーチコンテストへの参加有無が決まります。希望生徒を全員参加させてあげたい気持ちもありますが、人数制限のため選抜を行います。どんな結果であれ、ここまでやりきった生徒の成長には驚かされます。We couldn’t finish within the allotted time, so presentations will continue next time. Based on these presentations, we will decide which students will participate in the speech contest. While we would love for all the students who wish to participate to join, we will have to make selections due to the limited number of spots. Regardless of the results, we are truly impressed with the growth the students have shown up to this point.

お互いがお互いに刺激し合って良い空気で授業もできているので、このままどんどん成長してくれるといいですね！
The students are positively inspiring one another, creating a great atmosphere in class. We hope they continue to grow and develop at this pace!

本日は、夏休み期間中に練習を行ったレシテーションとスピーチの本番を行いました！

夏の期間に発音や表現等の表現力を鍛え、その成果が出せた生徒、満足いかなかった生徒いるかと思いますが、そういった経験が皆さんの今後の糧になればと思います！

Today, we held the final recitation and speech presentations that students have been practicing for during the summer break! Some students were able to showcase the skills they’ve developed in pronunciation and expression, while others may feel they didn’t perform to their full potential. However, we hope that all of these experiences will serve as valuable lessons for the future!

 次回は、レシテーション部門の未発表の生徒と、スピーチ部門の発表が待っています！人によって全く異なる表現や、スピーチに関しては時間をかけて原稿を作成したので、しっかりと感情表現をできるようにしてほしいですね！ALTの先生方も、皆さんの発表に感銘しており、今後の成長にも期待しているようです！是非、一つ一つの経験を積み重ねていってほしいですね！

Next, we look forward to hearing from the students who haven’t yet presented in the recitation category and the upcoming speeches!

Each student’s expression is unique, and for the speech category, many have spent considerable time crafting their scripts. We hope they can fully express their emotions through their performances. The ALT teachers were also deeply impressed with the presentations and are excited to see further growth from everyone!
